AEF Honors the Gormans and Blended Learning

imgres-2Volunteering, like parenting, is mostly a thankless job. Both efforts are done out of love, for our kids or our community. Once in a while, particularly brilliant efforts are noticed and recognized.

So it is with our very own Jill and Taggart Gorman (parents to Franklin 5th grader Kyle), who are being honored at AEF’s Salute to Education tonight for their work creating Alameda’s Ability Awareness Program. (Seriously, did you know Jill started that in Alameda? Read about it here.) Jill has also served as Franklin’s PTA president and coordinator for the Alameda Special Education Parent Support Group. The Gormans have also been in charge of our sound system for events, which is not what they are being honored for, but which has been a huge job in itself.

“It’s staggering what these two people have been able to do,” said Franklin PTA president Mary Brune. “You’ll both be missed for who you are as people and for what you’ve done here at Franklin.”

Franklin School’s Blended Learning Innovative Program will also be recognized at Salute to Education. If you’re looking for a fun evening out that celebrates people working hard for Alameda schools, come by the Salute to Education this evening!
